Duties:
Oversees and ensures successful weekly cycle count of stock.
Ensure monthly stock take with production and support department teams.
Ensures FIFO / LOS (line of site) principles are applied during storage and issuing of stock within area of responsibility.
Investigates stock variances and exceptions and implement an action plan.
Ensures that procedures pertaining to stock control are continuously reviewed to improve efficiencies and minimize risk to the company.
Liaises with, and assists Planning with the verification of receipts and issued goods, as well as of semi-finished components and products.
Ensures product received for storage, is accurately coded, compliant with procedures and stored in designated areas.
Ensures all non-conforming product is processed in accordance with procedures, and that scrap is adequately removed on a daily basis.
Controls damaged stock in WIP, investigates causes and takes corrective action.
Ensures that all consignment stock procedures are being adhered to when consignment stock is collected.
Creates and maintains work instructions.
Keeps abreast with developing technologies in the Inventory Control field.
Ensures integrity of database information is maintained on SAP at all times.
Writes out all credit notes, record in register
and get approval.
Captures rotations returned on the system.
Writes new invoice number on document and retain copy for record purposes.
Updates checks and charges spreadsheet.
Captures scrap differences on spreadsheet.
Ensures that stationary is ordered timeous.
Ensures that all protective clothing and gear is ordered.
Ensures that daily, weekly and monthly health and safety check sheets are completed and accidents reported to relevant HR function.
Operates within controls and procedures in order to ensure the integrity of the company.
Identifies and reports risks or areas of concern to management within own department and area of responsibility.
Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations and procedures to prevent fruitless, wasteful and irregular expenditure.
Ensures that all health and safety regulations

Job Description:
Ensuring that the quality of testing performed in the Mechanical Laboratory is in line with the required standards of the business and the laboratory.
Conducting non-routine test work, continuous optimization of processes, development of new test methods, improving existing test methods, solving technical problems and ensuring that all relevant systems are updated and changes implemented accordingly.
Perform validations, identify criteria for revalidation as well as compile validation documentation.
Commission equipment and instruments in line with the required Laboratory practices and procedures.
Maintain and improve current quality control systems to ensure validity and accuracy of testing.
Perform the required internal calibrations and/ or verifications on relevant equipment.

Job Requirements:
Minimum qualification required is a BEng (Metallurgy and Material Science / BSc. (Hons) Material Science.
A minimum of 2 years’ relevant laboratory experience at technician level in testing and quality management.
Possess knowledge of mechanical and metallurgical testing and processes, statistics and quality control systems, testing equipment principles, root cause analysis, method development and method validation, as well as data analysis and interpretation
Must be computer literate
Experience as a Technical signatory in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory will be an added advantage
Technical skills required; Mechanical and metallurgical testing and equipment, statistics, quality principles, in depth problem solving and root cause analysis
Basic people management skills required include conflict resolution, coaching and mentoring and written and oral communication
Personal competencies required; time management, initiative, attention to detail, integrity, self-discipline, proactive, sound judgement and ability to work independently

Job Description:
Identify problem areas requiring improvement as directed by business KPI’s
Quantify the underlying contributory causes to the problems
Study the problem at the hand of the contributory causes and propose solutions
Implement solutions including automation, mistake proofing, manufacturing procedures etc.
Sustain and continuously improve performance through the automated systems and processes.
Plan, direct and co-ordinate hot rolling process improvements linked to PC&D systems to improve quality, efficiency and availability.
Investigate all modelling and control system failures and associated deviations to implement corrective and preventive actions.
Implement solutions to assist with process and product development in association with Level 1 or 2, Technical and Production departments through consultation with other disciplines/departments.
Maintain and develop the following systems:
Heat transfer modelling (finite element heat transfer Level 2 model) and combustion systems (Level 1).
Rolling modelling (Level 2): Speed, temperature, forces, torques and flatness control models (including neural network).
Level 1 thickness, flatness, strip cooling and coiling mostly feedback control systems.
Expert System for continuous process parameter optimisation of the heating and rolling processes (including Fuzzy Logic).
Weekly standby on a rotational basis with the other PC&D team members.
Ensure compliance with the goals as defined in KPIs.
Identify problems, investigate solutions and solve problem in order to achieve those goals.
Constantly co-ordinate process deviations with all relevant parties.
React and correct all substandard process conditions
Job Requirements:
BEng (Electrical, Electronic, Metallurgical or Mechanical) or Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
Experience in Software development (C, C++, C#, Visual Basic, etc), specifically in the engineering control software field.
Knowledge of Level 2 type first principle models for heating and rolling technology.
Knowledge of how these Level 2 models are automatically calibrated using artificial intelligence or other simpler methods.
Knowledge of control systems and instrumentation is a plus.
Creative and strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment is a plus.
Enjoys working in the field of engineering solution development.
