Now that the festive period is starting to fade into the distance and life is slowly starting to return to normal, people are now bracing themselves for when work starts again. Those returning from holiday will undoubtedly be met by plenty of unread emails that will take some time to sort out.
Shaking off the post-festive jitters will take some time and then getting back into the swing of things in the workplace. There will still be some that will say their time off wasn't enough.
We've put together a couple of ways in which to beat the post festive work slump:
Manage your workload
It's very likely that when you return to your desk after a long time away, there will probably be plenty of unread emails or physical documents waiting for you to sort out. Starting from old to new or vice versa (depending on which is priority), get started on those as quickly as possible to avoid any potential backlog(s).
Get organised
You'll know what is important and what can be put on the waiting list. Make sure your desk is the way you want it and all your apps/programs are open that you need in order to best start work. The last thing you want is to be confused due to clutter or an overwhelming workspace where you cannot concentrate, as that can lead to mistakes.
Find a working pace
It's virtually impossible to do all the work at once, so the best thing to do is find a pace at which to work, while not being too slow. Don't overwork yourself on the first day back, take your time and do what needs to be done.
Now that you’ve got the knowledge, it’s time to shop! Head to gumtree.co.za or your Gumtree app (click for Apple & Android), and don’t forget to use your location settings to find local service information close to home.
